Presenting ...

Living the Love

Well, finally it's finished! My CD, "Living the Love", has been a long time coming and lots of preparation getting it together. It has been fun and I'm ready to do it again. I have met and worked with some of the finest musicians and technical people in the business.

As long as I can remember, music has been a part of my life. It was played in my home and my parents were great admirers of Jazz, Blues and Gospel. My parents gave me the opportunity to open the doors to my love of the classics. I was able to use my musical knowledge in my career as Director of Theatre for the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation. Music is what gives me joy and peace and it feeds my spirit. It's an integral part of who I am and music, whether lyrics, scores, arrangements, instrumentation or a solo piece can make me soar to the heights or make me see a situation in a different light! In fact, music can heal many things; as in the hearing of spiritual music, great symphonies and love songs. It is truly a way of life for me.

I gave a lot of thought to the songs chosen for this CD and they tell a story of my relationship with many of the people in my life. "My Romance", "Long Ago and Far Away", "Let It Be Me", "If You Love Me (Really Love Me)" and "Till" depict my feelings for the many wonderful years of marriage that I have and hope to continue to have for years to come. "If I Could" was a slam dunk . for my children and their families. I will always be there for them. "Stella By Starlight" has always been a favorite of mine. It reminds me of when my wife and I were dating and those memories are so very precious. The arrangement for "Beyond The Sea" is a mixture of blues and gospel which I love to sing. The spirituality of gospel and the reality of the blues reflects my childhood and is still a part of my life. I heard a recording of "Something To Live For" and immediately it was chosen for this CD. It is a favorite for many audiences in live performances. The swing version of "Secret Love" gets my adrenaline going then I'm off and running!

Who's Who on the CD

Sean Conly, bassist; Gene Lewin, drums; Warren Vacheé cornet; Carl Bartlett Jr., alto sax and Antoine Silverman, violin. PPI owner and recording engineer Chip Fabrizi made the recording process not only very comfortable but a real pleasure.

Daryl Kojak and I have worked together for many years. He was with me at my earliest show in New York at "The Fives". Not only do I consider him a superb pianist and arranger but also a friend.

Let's do it again guys . What a wonderful session!

Give a listen and take this journey with me. Who knows what favorites you will find or how a song might bring joy to your day? Enjoy!
